built vlc1.1.0-rc3. but could not run vlc.exe unde windows

I built vlc-1.1.0-rc3 in windows 7 as per the instruction in http://wiki.videolan.org/Win32CompileMSYSNew.
Now I am able to run vlc.exe from msys.bat prompt. But I am unable to run the same file from cmd prompt or double clicking the exe. I also tried to run the test.htm file, but looks like the browser is unable to load the axvlc.dll (the media player interface is completely white instead of black with an x mark on the left edge). How can I fix this?

What build option you used?

i am kinda new to msys environment. So where can i check the build option? there are some options in confiure-msys.sh under msys/1.0/home/<username>/rsivaraman/vlc/extras/package/win32. Is that what you are talking about? I tried with both --enable-debug as well as --disable-debug options in this file. Both did not work.

adding to my previous post. I was able to run vlc from windows command prompt but I have to give the media file name to play as a parameter. So it opens the vlc player(with no menu options), plays the specified file and closes, but vlc process is running in the background. I used a .mov file.
However, when i run vlc from msys.bat file, i dont have to give the media file name as a parameter. it opens up the vlc player with menu options and I can click on file->open to load and play a file. So I am guessing i might have to change some build option to build a different way .

Further to my post. what I meant to say was, when i ran from msys.bat file, vlc interface was opened, with menu options and play buttons. but when i run vlc from command prompt, or double click on vlc.exe, it does not open up the interface. when i checked the log file, it says, 'Remote control interface initialized' and the vlc runs in the background until i force to shut down from task manager.

I mean what package option you used with make.

The remote thingy would indicate that the VLC doesn't either found plugins when run from non-msys shell, or it automatically starts with -I rc

You can run vlc --list and you should see if it find the plugins.

I followed as per the instruction listed in wiki videolan. I used the followiing package option, "make package-win32-base".

Does vlc -I qt4 work?

I got it working. I moved these dlls to local folder where vlc.exe resides and then I was able to run vlc from command prompt. libstdc++-6.dll and libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll I found these dlls under mingw/bin. Now I want to build the package with these dlls included, instead of manually copying them to the local folder. I tried using --enable-static option in configure-common.sh. But it did not work. what option should i use?

I got it working again. I followed the trick explained in the link, viewtopic.php?f=32&t=96333. I renamed the file C:\MinGW\lib\gcc\mingw32\4.6.1\libstdc++.dll.a to something else and make VLC package. So right now i dont have to copy those dlls to open vlc media player. I dont know if it is the right way of doing it. Can you please explain?
