Digital Copy

I just transferred a digital copy of a DVD to my computer it's wmv it plays with windows media player but not with vlc is this something to do with fox and media player encoding the digital transfer so that the copy will not work with any other player?

It is DRM protected. VLC cannot playback DRM protected WMV files. You have to remove the copy protection stuff, but MUCH easier solution is to rip the DVD with tool Handbrake.
