Plays blank at end of video

I’m trying to play a 30 second video in VLC media player. The video plays, but then it keeps playing for 3 minutes more. It keeps playing nothing. The screen is black, the timer stops at 30 seconds, but the “slider bar” at the bottom slowly moves along, for 3 minutes.

I want to do a loop, I want it to play another video afterwards. It plays the next video in the playlist, but only after the 3 minutes.

My question is, either; Why is it playing a blank 3 minutes, at the end of my 30 second video? Or: How do I get it to not play the extra 3 minutes?

When I play the video with Windows Media Player, it’s only a 30 second video. It works correctly with that, but I can’t get that program to bring it into a library, I can’t get get a Playlist to work, in the other program.

VLC 1.11, Windows 7, Dell D620 laptop

Most likely remuxing the file fixes the issue.

I'm not familiar with the term, so I looked it up, found MKV ToolNix, and did a "remux."
That did help, fixed another problem, but I still have the extra 3 minutes of nothing at the end.

Do you have any other ideas as to how to get rid of the unwanted non-video?

Maybe one of those video or audio tracks is that long. Demuxing and checking the info from ES files should tell if that is the case.
