How to make VLC display the subtitle language?

My native language is Portuguese and when I want to see a video, I click on "video", "subtitles track", "open file" and choose a srt subtitle. Or put Portuguese and English subtitles in the folder of the video with the same name, except the extension. VLC recognize them automatically. Ok, fine. But I'd like to see "Portuguese"(pt-br) and "English"(en)(French(fr), Spanish(es) etc if it's the case) in the menu instead of "track 1" and "track 2". Is this possible?

In theory, if the subtitle file would have some metadata to indicate the language, we could add it to there (e.g DVD and Blu-ray movies have this). Guessing purely on filename is a little bit something we don't want to do, so for .srt etc. files this seems problematic.
