Missing toolbar

Friends: Quite often now whenever I am playing content with VLC media player my toolbar goes missing and the video takes over the full screen. Pressing ESC does nothing and I cannot do anything else beside allowing the video content to complete. I uninstalled the newest version and installed version 1.0.1, yet same problem. Windows XP Pro. Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you.

Delete VLC's preferences and cache files (type "%appdata%" into the Windows Explorer address bar and then delete the "vlc" folder).

If that does nothing try a different video output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ#Why ... _output.3F

BTW you should be able to get access to other windows by pressing Alt+Tab, or do a Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up Task Manager and close vlc.exe if it's non-responsive (shouldn't need to wait for a video to finish).

Arite: Thanks for the quick response. I did as you suggested and deleted the VLC folder. It seems to be working okay now. I could not get any response from keyboard or mouse commands until the video finished playing. Thanks again.

OK, glad that seemed to fix it. Strange that it completely froze...
