VLC crashes when trying to view YT movies!

My VLC crashes when i try to open/watch youtube videos in it. I get the vidoename up and then it crashes. I use win7 x64 as OS.
please give me a noob answer I'm not familiar with the inner workings of VLC.
(I have tried to change .lua files)

The same thing happens to me on XP SP3 when paired with 1.1.11.
