I have a Lenovo computer running Windows 7. I have been running VLC for over a year and it has been a super program. Today it will no longer open files. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it but when I do to open a file nothing happens. Any ideas?

Does it help if you reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folder?

How do you remove the %appdata%\vlc folder?

You open 'Windows Explorer' and steer it to '<your systems drive letter here>:\Users\<your windowse user name here>\AppData\Roaming\vlc'

For me (Win7 Home Premium 64Bit) this would look like 'C:\Users\JoanTheSpark\AppData\Roaming\vlc'

I went to try this to see if it would help my playing issues but I don't even have the appdata folder in the location the previous post pointed to.

Then you should state which OS you're using..?

The only generic file I can see in that folder seems to be "vlc-qt-interface.ini". Might try to search for it on your computer to find the folder?

I'm out of ideas.. good luck.

You can paste %appdata%\vlc directly to Windows Explorer, or to Start -> Run
