Why can't I play Youtube videos on VLC?

Every time I try, it crashes, and I hear of a patch that was created to fix this, but I have no clue how to fix it. None.
Can anyone please help me? I'd really appreciate it.

Download the new youtube.lua file and replace the old one in your VLC install directory.

as permy knowledge you can play utube vedios on the vlc . but u r saying that u cant do it so check the version of the vlc you are using at present and try latest once

It wont work with latest one unless you use my fixed youtube.lua
