Confirmed, the playback is chaotic (more often it freezes then ends up with VLC crashing) with rtmpdump stdout to VLC stdin, for instance:
rtmpdump -r URL -o - | VLC.exe -
It working fine with vlc-1.1.10-git from the nightly builds (Branch) though.

Yes, it will be fixed in VLC 2.0.3 coming soon, meanwhile you can use a nightly build.
