VLC complete crash during hotkey "jump"

Postby misterhighway » 12 Apr 2011 01:37

Over the past few years and the past few releases of VLC, I've noticed on nearly a daily occurrence that VLC will crash when "jumping" using the hotkeys and sometimes when manually moving the progress bar. This typically is caused by WMV files, though I have experienced this with AVI, FLV, 3GP, and MKV files, and it does not seem to matter if the files are 1 minute long or 2 hours. VLC will close out completely when using these hotkeys. I really enjoy the program but it is frustrating when I am testing videos in a playlist and have it crash, thus losing the entire playlist I had prior. And if I add all those files to the playlist again, before I open the program, I will get the window to send my feedback to the programmers (which I have done dozens of times) for EACH and EVERY file on my playlist. 18 files added to playlist = 18 windows. I'm just wondering if there is some type of a fix or something I'm doing wrong. This has happened to me with videos from several different sources and on several different PCs, however they were all XP SP3 systems.

Thanks for all your hard work,

[MisterHighway]

Some seeking operations might crash VLC. If you have some files that show this behavior easier than others, could you share them to us?
