1.1.8: playback error of a folder named with non-latin chars

Postby AKazak » 03 Apr 2011 11:55

Greetings!

I use W7 Pro SP1 and have a folder, named with Cyrillic characters, with VIDEO_TS inside. If I drag and drop this folder to VLC window I get the following error:
Playback failure:
DVDRead could not open the disc "D:\Тест\VIDEO_TS".
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd://D:\Тест\VIDEO_TS\'. Check the log for details.

Your input can't be opened:

The Messages window with verbosity level 1 has the following:
dvdnav warning: cannot open DVD (D:\Тест)
main info: stopping playback
dummy info: command `nop'
ts warning: TS module discarded (lost sync)
ps warning: this does not look like an MPEG PS stream, continuing anyway
ps warning: garbage at input, trying to resync...

main warning: buffer is 62202 late, triggering upsampling

I know that the problem was discussed quite a number of times but I couldn't resolve this issues after performing step from various thread of the forum.
Could you help me to find out solution please?

Sorry to bring up old theme (I used forum search), but in latest nightly 3.0.0 it seems to be broken again - "open file's folder" in playlist refuses to do it (with error message "c:\?????" in path name) but file still could be played. So it is because nightly build or new bug?

And in my experience only VLC can't handle non-latin mp3 tags, when Cyberlink or WMP or other player never had any issues with that. Boo hoo.

P.S. also "open file's folder" doesn't select (highlight) reference file in folder (any VLC version afair) - by design or minor flaw?
