too slow taking snapshot, why?

I used to take several snapshots per second (7-8) from videos to make animated gifs. I quickly hit the snapshot hotkey and the pictures were saved instantly. Sometimes, with HD movies, I had to set a slower speed (x0.75 or x0.5).

Now I changed my computer (from win XP to win 7) and even if it's way more powerful, videolan takes too much time to save one image and I can't take enough snapshots per second anymore.

Even setting the speed to x0.12, the last jpg is saved some second after I stop clicking the snapshot hotkey.

Can I do something to speed up this process?

Hi, I know this is an old post but I was wondering if you figured a solution to this problem as it's happening to me. Thanks!

Use scene filter with png compression, no quality loss.
