When I press Pause the video does not stop right away.

May I please find out why when I pause a video it still shows a few frames and the sound is still audible for about 0.5 sec? Is there a reason for this? I just never seen any other programs not pause right away except for maybe RealPlayer sometimes.
But this is really strange, you press pause but the video is still going for like a sec?

Update VLC to 1.1.7
That indeed fixed the problem.
