Playing multiple Audio streams via different audio channels

Hi All,

First of all I would like to thank the developers for VLC. It is, without question, the best media player available currently.
I am particularly impressed with the ability to easily switch between audio streams while playing .avi files.

I have an .avi file which has 4 different audio streams. I can easily switch to my required language, but what I want to do is a bit more complex. I'd like to play all four streams simultaneously, but through different channels on the soundcard. The idea is that the English would be playing through the front speakers, and I would have different devices connected to the other outputs to play the Irish, German & French versions. Simply speaking, it would be like having four sets of headphones connected to the video card, each playing a different language.

Is that possible? I'm running windows XP with VLC 1.0.3. I have installed the ffdshow codecs, and have an Intel soundcard capable of 7.1 channels.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

Thanks for your input,

Thats unfortunate. I have a wmv file which has 7 languages playing simultaneously, each on a separate channel, which is exactly what I want, but that file was not created by me. It works on WMP. It must be possible somehow.....
