Trouble Playing Blu Ray Disc

I have a new laptop with a Blu Ray player in it. When I put in a Blu Ray disc, my PC does nothing. I don't get the usual AutoPlay dialog I get when regular DVDs are inserted. I've tried two different BD discs which I know are good as I've played them on a friend's settop Blu Ray player. I have Windows 7 64 and VLC version 1.1.5.
Any suggestions?

VLC cannot play commercial Blu-ray discs. You can rip the movies to hard drive with proper tools and then play the .m2ts files in VLC.

OK, that helps a bit. Thanks. Can you suggest a good, inexpensive program for playing BDs?
Also, any idea why I don't even get an Autoplay dialog box asking me what to do with the disc that's been inserted in the BD drvie?

PowerDVD, WinDVD those are the two programs I remember (Nero also has plugin for playback). They aren't inexpensive (about 40 bucks).

Do you know if there's any blu-ray support coming in the near/distant future? VLC is the greatest player ever and it sucks not being able to use it 'cause Sony thinks it doesn't have enough money yet >.<

Full Blu-ray support won't most likely land to any free player anytime soon.
