Pause won't stay paused

Playing mp3 files from my hard drive, I hit pause in VLC and the music stopped but seconds later the music continued playing again on its own.

I don't know that this is a Windows-only issue but I have no other OS with VLC to check this on.

Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) and then repeat the process. Messages should tell what happened.

Tried again and pause is still operating properly. maybe it was just a one-day problem.

I've gotten the same issue. I press Ctrl-M, set focus to vlc player, press space bar and then it toggled pause by itself. Here is the log (verbosity 2):
main debug: auto hiding mouse cursor
main debug: toggling resume
main debug: toggling resume
mmdevice debug: state changed: 0
Then it pauses, it then continues and the following shows up:
main debug: toggling pause
main debug: toggling pause
mmdevice debug: state changed: 1
main debug: auto hiding mouse cursor
This will continue even if I close VLC and restart it. Thought it was a keyboard issue, but I'm not getting any issues with any other application. This has happened on my other Windows machine too. That one running Windows 8.1, this one running Windows 10. Both are convertible laptops, though I don't think that it is the reason since this was reported over 10 years ago.

If there is any other information I can pass on, let me know.

Seems that it only happens when I connect my BT speaker to my laptop. Must be sending some sort of signal to play to the laptop. Is there some way to disable something like this or debug what's going on?

Attempted to replicate on my phone, but it appears to be isolated to VLC. Attempted to replicate on my other computer running VLC as well, but it didn't do it either. Seems like there is some weird interaction happing that I can't put my finger on. Any additional information to perform more diagnostics would be appreciated.

Thx.
