VLC Sound Check
I like to make use of the playlist feature but the trouble is with all the different file formats and encodes, the volume level is erratic. One minute I have to turn my speakers all the way up to hear a program and the next I'm being blasted away! Is there perhaps a sound check feature that standardizes the volume?

There is a replay gain support in VLC. Tools -> Preferences and Audio.
