Using mouse buttons to jump back/forth?

Hello all,

I used to be able to skip back and forward using my teo little mouse buttons by the thumb. Since I reinstalled windows and got the latest VLC: 1.1.5 - they no longer seem to work. I had a look around in the settings and found what I think is the associated command in 'hotkeys'. It's the 'Medium forwards jump' and 'medium backwards jump'. Although I had never given instructions to VLC to assign these buttons, I had always liked this feature.

I can move to Firefox and the mouse buttons work perfectly, so I have ruled out a fault with the mouse. Has there been a change in the latest version? Does anyone know how I can assign a mouse button, rather than keystrokes, in the Hotkeys settings?

Thanks a lot if you can help!

Sarah

You cannot bind mouse keys via hotkeys. If you know what keycodes those mouse buttons send, it would help.

The shortcuts in VLC are ALT+left arrow and ALT+right arrow. I don't know how they got assigned in the past, because I definitely never did that manually. But in previous installations the mouse buttons used to work.
