Deactivate reactions on multimedia keys?

Moin,
is it possible to deactive the reactions of vlc on the multimedia keys? For example when I'm pressing mute it mutes windows and vlc. This is okay, but when I'm minimizing vlc and pressing mute again it doesn't stop muting vlc.

I'm searched in the shortcuts list, but there are the key bindings not listed. In earlier versions I controlled the volume with the „next“/„prev“ buttons but now it does switching the tracks and modified volume if it is the active window.

Sincerely
xZise

This behavior is partly fixed in upcoming VLC 1.1.6 (mute only mutes VLC, vol+ and vol- only affect VLC)

Won't it be better to set this keybindings in the shortcuts table, so everybody can change it? Because this is hardcoded which not necessary has to be hardcoded. If I'm correct, you could also use earlier versions and set the keybinding of „play/pause“ to my „play/pause“-button on the keyboard. Sure it will replace the possibility to press space instead, but than it will be the best, if everybody can bing more than one key to a function.

You can track progress on this issue here.

Summary: opinions differ on what the behaviour should be for VLC. A configuration option can be added to switch between VLC responding to volume controls vs system responding to volume controls. I'll be writing the code for this soon.
