Menu selection highlight showing up in wrong colors?

Has anyone experienced any instances where selections on a DVD menu show up in the wrong colors? This is a problem I just discovered with one of my DVDs.
On this screen from the DVD, the two arrows near the bottom and the text in between them are menu selections. They should be showing up in blue when moused over. I don't encounter the problem in Media Player Classic or Windows Media Player, as seen here:

But when I try to do the same thing in VLC Media Player, they are highlighted in some yellowish color:

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If you open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) and then mouse over, does the message log complain something?

Hi!
Same problem here, I did what you suggested with the messages and here's what I get:
main debug: auto hidding mouse
dvdnav debug: DVDNAV_HIGHLIGHT
dvdnav debug: - display=1
dvdnav debug: - buttonN=2
main debug: crop: 47,289,230,76, palette forced: 1
dvdnav debug: buttonUpdate 2
dvdnav debug: DVDNAV_HIGHLIGHT
dvdnav debug: - display=1
dvdnav debug: - buttonN=1
main debug: crop: 47,199,220,76, palette forced: 1
"Palette forced" is probably what causes the hightlights to be of wrong colours, but why is the palette forced?

VLC might parse the info incorrectly from the disc.

Is there any way to fix this?
I need to recommend free players to my clients (I'm a video producer) so that they can view the content they buy, but if my DVD-menus don't look right then unfortunately I can't use the otherwise so great VLC-player. I really do love VLC in so many ways, but wrong color subpictures will confuse my clients so it's kind of a deal breaker to me.
This problem seems to occur with commmercial hollywood dvd's too. Is it a bug in VLC-player?

It is prolly a bug in VLC. If someone provides VOB file that we can use for replication, I think this could be fixed.

Hi!
I'd be happy to deliver my .ISO file to you for inspection! Just tell me where to send it!
Cheers,
Andy

Depends how big the ISO is. If it is few hundred megs, you can use megaupload or similar service.

I sent the link to you via PM (it's a client job, so I can't make it public)!

I found the issue, removal of libyuvp_plugin.dll from plugins folder should fix the colors. But hopefully someone can fix the plugin.

I can confirm that removing the file works!
That is so so cool! Thank you very very much! I really would have hated using anything else than VLC -it's so simple for my clients to install and use. And it even opens ISO files right out the box! Good stuff!
Do you happen to know what the deleted plugin does? Is there any problems that might result after deleting it?

It does colorspace conversion from YUVP to YUVA. Blend plugin can handle those conversions too.

I think this is still a problem. Can anybody give me some more information to look into this?

I know little about it, but my first question is "is it possible to use ffmpeg's libswscale to implement these?"

I have no clue how well libswscale does colorspace conversions.

Ok offering $150 bounty for this
It appears that libswscale "can" specify
http://dranger.com/ffmpeg/tutorial08.html take a desired pixel destination format, though maybe not to YUVA?
http://caca.zoy.org/browser/libpipi/tru ... c?rev=4703 might be related/helpful
http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.comp.v ... evel/76388 is a related discussion.

Posting bounties to this forum isn't the best way to get developers, since most of them don't follow these forums very actively.

I have the almost same problem. When i open a Dvd disc with Vlc, menu button colors (and especially when hovering and highlighting them) gets corrupted, damaged with purple, pink colors!
Don't say it's my problem because Wmp 12 shows just fine with no color corruption in menus.
What's the fix and has it been addressed in the latest version?
That's not very assuring

which version fails for you? FWIW 2.0.3 works here for me, whereas 1.x used to not work...
