I am having trouble with VLC (several recent versions including 1.1.7) and the Wacom Graphire tablet and mouse using Windows 7.
I see that this has been going on for some time. For me, it began with my new notebook that has Windows 7. I have been using the same tablet with VLC and XP for years with no problems.
So far, I have only found two programs (out of hundreds) that exhibit this problem, VLC and Google Earth. The mouse works normally with all other programs. Wacom is aware of the issue and their response is that Google is working on the problem. For some reason they think the VLC issue is only in virtual environments. Not true.
With VLC, the problem is a failure to recognize the left mouse down. For some reason, VLC must interpret Windows messages differently from other programs. In fact, it only affects some functions. Here is a summary in the hopes that someone looking at the code can find the common factor. It would be nice to resolve it. The touchpad and buttons on the computer do work, so I can always reach over and use them - once I remember why the mouse isn't working.
The right mouse button and moves work normally.
Once a menu is open, the left mouse button will work to select a menu item.
The left mouse button will not work on any of the control buttons at the bottom.
The left mouse button will not drag the time slider and clicks on the line are not recognized.
Left Mouse clicks inside context menus work, so right clicking allows use of play and pause.
In dialogs, some things (checkboxes) work and others (tabs) don't.
Although it is no doubt true that the bug is in the Wacom driver, it is also clear that VLC is doing something unusual, even if it is acceptable, in interpreting mouse actions, or the problem would manifest with more programs.
I wish I had the time to download the source and dig into it myself, but my plate is full. I will be happy to work with anyone who wants to tackle this issue.
