A Query About VLC..

Hi Everyone,

I am a huge fan of VLC when it comes to my media playing solutions. But there is one thing that is bugging me.

There is a small jump feature in VLC (Ctrl+Left/Ctrl+Right), which jumps the video being played by 1 minute. Is there any way i can reduce it or increase it? I was thinking that it would be really nice if i could chnage it to 30 seconds or something rather than 1 minute. But would like to know that can i do it somehow? If yes, please do let me know how.

Although this is not a troubleshooting question, but didn't find any other place to post it in.

You can change the skip value. Tools -> Preferences and (Show settings: All) Interface -> Hotkey settings and adjust jump sizes.

Hi hell_storm2004,
You even can use Shift+ left/right, in case you want shorter jumps (3s) compared to Alt+ (10s) or Ctrl+ (1min) as shown in the next pic :

Also we see in the pic a great feature : the "e" key displays next frame (when you're Paused)
Too bad Vlc doesn't include a "previous frame" key as it exists in many programs.

j-b told me once it wasn't as easy to program than "next frame" , I just hope one of these days we'll have the pleasure to discover a new release including this missing functionality :)

It cannot be implemented in such way that it would work correctly in most cases.
