Is there anyway to save mms streams to hardrive?

Hi,
sorry if this question was answered somewhere in the database but i couldn't get it working by now with the found info
I'd like to do the same thing this guy asked here Is there anyway to save mms streams to hardrive? but under Windows and with VLC and member "Pirate" did not explain how to save a streamed video.How can i do it?
