VLC freezes when video finishes

Before the 1.1.4 release, I was using VLC 1.1.0. I recently upgraded to the 1.1.4 release only to find that when my videos (typically .avi) end, VLC freezes and I have to force quit before opening the next file. To remedy this, I uninstalled 1.1.4 and went back to 1.1.0 but now I'm having the same problem in 1.1.0. Not sure what's going on. Never had an issue with VLC before. Also, for what it's worth, during the 1.1.4 upgrade a DOS window opened up. I don't recall that ever happening in previous installs, but I'm no computer expert. The same DOS window popped up again when I went to reinstall 1.1.0. Any suggestions?

Running on XP Professional (SP3)

If you play your video fullscreen, switch to "Fullscreen Interface" before "real" fulscreen.

Yeah! That seems to be doing the trick! Thanks so much for the help! Greatly appreciated friend :)

EDIT: Any reason why exactly that works? Or what causes the problem to begin with?
