Question about QCP and SHN files...

I'm trying to play QCP and SHN file types on Windows Vista 64-bit, and I've run into a few problems.

When I try to play QCP files (Qualcomms Pure Voice), for some reason the audio speeds up and slows down at random.

As for SHN files, they barely play at all. It's apparently registered as a Windows Media file type, but I tried to play it with VLC since VLC can play just about anything. When I do though, I get a funky garbled sound in the beginning and shortly it drowns into silence.

Any tips available would be appreciated.

Yes, confirmed and they also play too fast.
Hélas, it seems to be an old bug still awaiting for a fix:

I have similar QCP problems, ticket 5347

I made a bunch of voice recordings years ago on my Sanyo feature phone and they're stored as QCP files. VLC 1.1 has trouble playing some of these on both Windows and Linux 64-bit, including the speed-up you report. It also stops playing early. Strangely, if I pause and play (e.g. press space bar twice) the pitch stays correct.

I downloaded the PureVoice SDK from Qualcomm and VLC plays the short PVsample.qcp file from at the right pitch, but it stops playing early ("This is Qualcom's PureVoice..." should continue to say "file".) I couldn't find a bug about this in the VLC bug tracker (the only PureVoice bug I could find is about not detecting QCELP audio in a video, ticket 4255). So I filed ticket 5347, "QCP (PureVoice QCELP) audio speeds up and truncates".
