I much prefer to interface my programs (& OS) through keyboard shortcuts although navigating through a playlist is faster with a mouse, when I get back to VLC and I use the playback shortcuts, they don't respond accordingly, especially Space that doesn't play/pause. I suppose the reason is that those 2 sections use different parts of the programs (2 programs rolled into 1) and they each have a set of shortcut. Once I use the mouse and click the play button, I can use the right shortcuts. My concern is how to switch to the playback section without using the mouse thus using a shortcut.
