VLC won't fully close

I'm running XP and I've been experiencing this issue since vlc 1.0

When I view a video clip and in the middle of it, I want to close the program, I click on the red X in the upper right corner (like I do with most programs) to turn it off.

Yet when I look down in the service tray, there's an instance of vlc still running next to the clock. I have to click on the vlc icon in the service tray to fully close the program.

Has anybody else noticed this? Is this a bug?

Known issue. Media -> Quit should work.

Its as annoying as hell. why not just fix it so closing the program the regular way works.
is it time to go back to 0.9.9 because that worked.
its amazing how you can actually break stuff that already worked when you "improve" the program.

I agree with smurfmachine. That's what the X is there for.

Having to drop open the Media menu and clicking on "Quit" to fully close the program is ridiculous.

Is fixing this really that hard to do?

I will be back on this forum near 15th of November. I won't answer any posts before that.
Wow, we're gonna have to wait all the way until then?

Talk about abandoning support... :x
