How to always start VLC w/extended GUI enabled?

Hi, gang:
In previous versions of VLC I used to be able to save a setting that allowed VLC to start with the extended GUI enabled and the video adjustment sliders enabled and ready to go.
Now, when VLC starts, I have to click on a button and a checkbox or two to enable the video gamma and contrast controls, which I use frequently. It's not THAT BIG of a deal, but when I start VLC 10-30 times a day...the clicking adds up
I can't find the setting I need... Does it still exist?
Thanks in advance,
