Hi everyone!

I've been a VLC user for quite some time, and I have it as my favorite media player (I'm not a library guy), and so I got quite surprised when I found this problem.
I keep backups of my dvd's, since I don't like carrying them around in my backpack (all my pc's are laptops).
I recently bought a Toshiba Qosmio, and copied my backups into it, dragged one into VLC 1.1.3 and got the following:~´

My machine is a Qosmio F60-118, general specs are:
Intel Core i7
nVidia GeForce GT330M 1.0GB
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Well, that was unexpected, but it worked :O

So, VLC doesn't like special characters? Hmm... Any ideas on how to circumvent this, while keeping the videos on the same folder?

It is libdvdread issue

This seems true in a lot of apps, unfortunately.

For instance, in Thunderbird, an attachment that has an "extended" character in its filename loses track of its filetype and shows up as gibberish at the recipient's end. I do a lot of score notation with Sibelius, and a lot of its functions just fall over when a filename has an extended character.

I don't know if it's a Windows libraries issue, or just app developers not thinking beyond the English language.
