Cannot open more than 15 files (mass opening)

Hello,

I have been using VLC for a very long time, but something has always annoyed me.
When i try to open multiple audio files, i just select them and then press enter (it launches VLC since it is my default player).
I have set VLC to use only a single instance and to queue multiple files in the playlist.

When i open 15 files or less, everything is good : the first song plays and the others are added to the playlist.
However, if I open more than 15 files simultaneously, VLC will not launch but Windows Media Player instead. I really don't understand this behavior.

I'm using VLC 1.1.3 on Vista 32bits.

It is windows thingy. I don't what registry value is needed to override it. If someone locates documentation for this, I can patch this.

You can use this workaround to add more than 15 files, it also works on Windows 7 x64:
