How can I widen my Movies?

Since I upgraded to the latest version of VCL a few days ago every picture I try and watch has the right side of it gone. By gone I mean that there is a 1 inch gap on the right hand side between the picture and the side of the computer screen. In this 1 inch gap you see the desktop screen and the icons thta are on it. Is there anyway to stretch the picture to the right to cover this gap? None of the other VCL versions have done this. Is there a way to fix this? Crop and aspect don't work as the 1 inch gap is still there.. Thanks for any help.....
