Building font cache - what a waste of time?

From time to time, when i open some video i see this window:
I was using MPC, KMPlayer, BS Player and i newer saw such crap. Why instead of watching video-file i have to waste my time on some font cache? Why can't i watch video and have this cache procedure run in background, if it is so necessary?
