Video and audio problems in 1.1.0... and 1.1.1, too

Hi there
Some time after updating to 1.1.0, I noticed two strange things happened. The first one was that some FLVs showed like this:

Here is how it should be seen:

This problem remains in 1.1.1.
The second problem was that sometimes the audio "jumped", causing a change of pitch; now higher, now lower. I opened several videos with other players and they sounded OK. I still don't know if this problem remains in 1.1.1 as I have just updated it and it doesn't happen with specific videos.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Can you share the flv file?
Does it happen if you force mono ?

The file was found here:

And the FLV I created:

About the audio, I will have to wait for some FLV to start "jumping", so I'll let you know.

I've noticed the same behavior right after upgrading to 1.1.0. I hoped 1.1.1 would fix it, but it didn't. I haven't noticed the video problem (probably because I really haven't played any since the update), but all audio (mp3 files, streaming) have intermittent drop-outs. I'm not sure about this, but it seems to do it more when running in the background (subjective). Never had this problem before the updates. I have another computer which still has 1.0.5 and I'm leaving it alone until this is fixed.

I disabled Accelerated Video Output and selected WindowsGDI and the problem was solved. However, image quality was clearly inferior, pixellated to be specific.
Euh... Occam and his razor told me to go back to the original settings and download the video again (from YT, as a FLV) and see if it the problem remains
. It doesn't remain. Maybe the FLV "got old" or something (it was a couple of years old).
Now I only have that problem with audio, but I'll let you know if downloading again is the solution.
Thanks everybody!

I quote myself to answer myself: yes, the video file must be downloaded again. I opened an FLV that was 2 years old and the music changed pitch in an irritating way. I downloaded it again and the problem was solved. (I forgot to play the old file with another player, though.)
Why didn't anybody tell me that FLVs break after two years' life? And I'm being half-serious, half joking about the question.

Maybe they reencoded it.

Maybe they reencoded it.
What is that exactly?
On the other hand, I have just confirmed that the pitch problem only happens with VLC; I played a FLV with GOM Player and the sound was alright. Therefore it is not clear if the problem lies in the quality of the file, or in VLC, or in both.

Alright, another important discovery: this video and audio problem also happens with large video files such as AVIs; I opened one with 1.1.1. and the file "jumped" and changed pitch. Therefore the problem must lie in VLC itself.

What does Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) complain when jumps and pitch changes happen?

Nothing. It hasn't said a word since the problem began. By the way, I played again the aforementioned AVI with VLC and this time there were no jumps or pitch changes.
