Vlc 1.1.1 does not save the volume level

Hello
I would like to report a problem I'm finding this player for a long time: it does not save the volume level between meetings even when configured to do so. How can I fix this?

OS: Win XP Pro Sp3

I assume you mean the QT4 interface volume save issue. That is known one.

Is there any way around this?

Not really.

I hope this problem will be solved soon, because it makes no sense to have a setting that does not work, let alone being a problem for so long.

i have a solution but only to avoid vlc changing the volume on its own
the bug is still there

first set "always reset audio start level to" to 100% in options
then save settings and quit vlc
now change attribute of
vlcrc and vlc-qt-interface.ini
files to read only, so vlc cannot change options on its own

now vlc will start ALWAYS with 100% audio volume
(before u can change something in vlc options again u have to remove read only attribut)

BUT
best solution so far is to set manually volume slider back to 100% EACH time before u exit vlc

Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking to do. The player must save the volume level for which I set up the last time I used it. If I used the player and let the volume by 50%, I need the next time it runs open with the same 50%.

Same problem with VLC 1.1.2.

:(
This regression bug was introduced from version 1.0, ad it's tracked from more than 1 year. IMHO it's very severe bug because makes totally unusable a very evident UI option. I'm not optimistic after 1 year...

I had that problem also, when set to 100% in pref volume will be 39% on face.
If I set it to 100% on face it'll set to 256 in pref, so I saved it at 256, now reads 100%
on face
