You have one vlc.exe running on background. That is why installer cannot overwrite the needed files.

vlc.exe can crash, or one of browser plugin process can run in background. Installer cannot delete files that are in use.

I had the same problem with 1.1.0. I accepted the option to uninstall the previous version leaving the preferences. When it was done it started giving me error messages on some of the .dll files that they could not be opened for writing. I chose "Ignore" for all messages.

I then used the Windows uninstaller in Control Panel to wipe the program and reinstalled it fresh. It works just fine after that.

It does have a bug in the install if there were no instructions to write the new .dll files if the old ones were not found.

The DOS window that appears during the install is a bit annoying as one does not really know what to do with it. It disappears after about 8-10 seconds on its own.

It is opposite. Files ARE there and they ARE in use, so installed cannot replace them.
