VLC doesn't play a video to the very end

Hi to all!
I'm noticing VLC doesn't play a video till the very end, but it stops a fraction of a second before
I'm noticing this because I'm cutting some parts of videos with Avidemux, which is very precise, and VLC behaves that way, while for example Media Player Classic doesn't behave that way, it plays the videos to the very end

So, is it a common problem?

Known issue. It bothers all files.

And the problem persists in the new 1.1.9 release... Just how difficult is this to fix anyway? The problem has been around for a surprisingly long time for one that affects everyone, all the time.

Since it happens with plain audio files, maybe that is the key. The video might play right to the end if the audio would work fully. Maybe the video is faultless, but tied to an audio-glitch that terminates the playback prematurely.

It must be a real mind-bender to keep so many experts at bay. I'm graduating programming in about 16 months. Maybe I can look at it then, if someone more experienced hasn't solved it. Then again, maybe I've given someone an insight with the comment above...
