Low sound with Xfi XtremeMusic

Hi,

I have been having problems with getting the quality of sound I should be getting with my hardware. I have been running an Xfi XtremeMusic card paired with Sennhesier HD555's and the volume of the sound seems to be exceptionally lower even at 200%. I could be playing the same exact music file (V0/FLAC) and the sound in any other media player, be it foobar, wmp, winamp, the sound is always louder and clearer at a LESSER volume on those players. It isn't the music that bothers me much but rather playing HD movies. I have checked the audio settings and have it set on default, although, no other option seems to make a difference beside win32 wave output, but the downfall of using that is the video loses sync with the audio. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

Do those HD movies have multichannel audio tracks?

And VLC output defaults to stereo when you open those files?

some audio tracks won't mix properly with current VLC. And in worst case this means very low volume. But this shouldn't happen with MP3 files.
