Volume problem with the new VLC v1.1.0

Hi, I've recently updated my VLC media player from version 1.0.3 to 1.1.0 and now when I press the "volume up" key on my keyboard (I have the Logitech G15 Keyboard) the Windows volume goes up by 2 "levels" and the VLC volume goes up by 12.5%. The problem is when I want to reduce the volume, both Windows and VLC volumes go down (if I press 8 times the "volume down" key it's muted, Windows volume would go down by 10 levels (10%) and VLC volume would go down by 100%). That's very annoying. Is there a way to disable multimedia keys in VLC? Thanks.

Known issue. No workaround AFAIK.

A workaround would be to set media keys as global hotkeys.
Then they would only work for VLC while it is running.

But I don't understand why isn't there an option in Preferences --> Hotkeys to disable the Volume Up and Down, actually there's a hotkey Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down, but strangely the Mouse Wheel Up and Down and the Volume Up and Down media keys aren't there.

if vlc window is not in focus, then mutilmedia keyboard controls only affect windows volume , not VLc volume ( for me anyway).so just click outside of VLC window then adjust volume

I know that, but the problem is when you're watching a movie, that's very annoying.

I spent a good 4 hours trying various things to see if I could figure out what was causing it/how to fix it, finally gave up 20 minutes ago and went back to 1.0.5 and it works just fine. I believe I'll stick with 1.0.5 until a fix is available on 1.1.0, it looked like it had a great deal of new options to tweak; I was excited until I noticed the volume constantly changing when I used the Volume "wheel" on the G15. Suppose it's a small issue for those who don't have a keyboard with media keys or those who don't adjust the volume more than once a movie. I however do, sometimes I adjust it higher for "speech" and lower for "high pace action" scenes. Having it scale to full blast about gave me a heart attack the first time I used the Volume Wheel.

That did nothing for me, it continually adjusted my windows/vlc volume even when I had it minimized. <.< Hopefully the issue is addressed in the next update, if not, it's not too big of a deal I suppose, 1.0.5 is still running stable with no issues in XP SP3. ;p

I do the same thing and that's exactly why this problem is annoying.

I trust it IS being considered to be a BUG and not a new, improved software feature ???

I'm having the same problem. Before 1.1.0. pressing my global hotkeys didn't affect the sound volume in VLC player, but only in windows. Now it does affect the sound in VLC, which is really really annoying. I'm hoping this will get an option to disable this feature or something similar. I installed 1.1.2. but I still have the same issue. I'm considering reverting back to an older version. Does anyone know where I can download an old version like 1.0.x ?

On a side note, before this, I never had problems like this 'cause I never updated VLC media player. No updates, no problems like this. Why change anything if nothing was broken for me? However, nowadays it keeps annoying me with message/requests for updates, so I install these updates, and everytime I lose my preferences, or something like this happens. I used to be extremely happy with VLC. Well, not anymore.

v.1.1.1 has introduced yet another bug - when I adjust volume in full screen more - using miltimedia keyboard or remote - the volume changes but the VLC vertical on-screen volcume indicator no longer appears.

Problem also appears on the Mac version as well. Problem seems to be a bug in the pre-amp in both versions - adds +40dB to the original volume - in other words if you check pre-amp, and turn it all the way down to -20dB, and check 2nd pass, the volume is at its normal. Surprised still no fix yet - as the problem would appear isolated to probably an incorrect operand in the source code in one of the C++ routines.
