Problem closing and then opening VLC 1.1

Opening VLC is no problem the first time.
When I open VLC 1.1 a little icon appears in the system tray, when I close VLC player, the little icon stays open in the system tray,
but when I right or left click on it, it shows vlc player for a split second and then the program closes.

If I close vlc player and then try open it again, it refuses to open until I make the icon in the system tray go away.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hello massacre88,
Is your problem solved if you use Ctrl+Q to exit VLC (instead of the X button in the upper right corner) ?

Please have a look at the two following topics, where the same problem is exposed :

Hmm

Thank you.

ctrl + Q works. I found another way too, when I right click on the tray icon and click quit that works too.

I found two other ways, alt+f4 and right clicking on the open window rectangle thing in the mid section of the task bar and clicking close. That seems to be the best way. Yet another way is to right click on the top of the window and click close.
