Lenovo hardware volume buttons change VLC volume as well

I searched, but couldn't find anything on this so here goes:

I have run into a problem with the new VLC 1.1.0. The physical volume buttons on my Lenovo R500 laptop control BOTH the Windows master volume AND the VLC internal volume simultaneously. I don't mean the VLC application volume found in the Windows volume mixer. I mean the one found inside VLC. If the VLC window is inactive the buttons only control the Windows master volume.

I did not have this problem in 1.0.5 so I've gone back to that version for now.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug I have found? Are there any other users out there with similar laptops who have this problem? I can't imagine this is intended behavior and I haven't found a way to disable it from happening.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise.

EDIT: Tried the latest nightly build (vlc-1.2.0-git-20100628-0002-win32.exe) and the problem is there as well.

I can confirm that this is fixed in version 1.1.8, thanks. :)
