Interfering with 'turn off monitor' feature & etc

Postby acedavid » 19 Jun 2010 12:08

Hello, I'm using VLC 1.1.0-rc3 with Windows XP SP2.

1)
In 'Display Properties' of Win XP, I have checked the 'turn off monitor after some minutes' feature. In VLC, I have the 'Disable screensaver' option checked.
Before I run VLC, the power saving option works. But when I run VLC, it doesn't work anymore. Even if I close VLC. I have to reboot to make it work again.
I think this is a problem because normally people would like their monitor turned off when a video file is paused or running a music file. And certainly after exiting VLC.

2)
I think it would be good to add a condition on which the automatic cropping works. Personally, I want 16:9 video files to be cropped to 14:9 (as hdtv programs are cropped on an analog tv) but don't want 4:3 ones cropped to 14:9. So for my need it is necessary for VLC to crop only if the ratio of the file is bigger than a certain number.

3) When a video file is cropped, its subtitles are cropped too. Is it possible to fix this?

4) The file name that is shown for a moment when opening a video file, if the option 'Preferences -> Video -> Show media title on video', (that is present when 'Show settings' at the bottom left of the 'Preferences' window is set to 'All') is checked, is shown as squares when the name is in CJK. I took some capture files but I can't capture the area where the video is played correctly. Sorry.

Thanks for reading my post. Bye.

3. Not with current VLC design.
4. Maybe the file has metadata that VLC displays?
