VLC crashes whenever I try to take a screenshot

In a nutshell, I've tried setting the folder to different places, but no avail. I have no idea what other settings might affect the issue, but the fact is that every time I try to take a screenshot with VLC 1.05 in Windows XP, the program simply crashes without warning. My video card is ASUS EAH5850 with ATi's chip, if this is somehow significant. Does anybody have a clue to why this is happening? It happened quite some time ago with a different version of the program, but back then updating it solved the issue, but now it's back, and doesn't go away.

This happens to me as well. Please fix this asap, I don't know about another program to screencap from, which is rather inconvenient at the moment.

All the best

Try different video output modules.

using OpenGL (Windows XP) makes it not crash anymore, but now all my caps get this strange blue color in areas that aren't blue, and blue areas become orange-y. The video itself plays fine, no color mixup there. None of the other output modules fixed the crashing problem.

Confirmed, OpenGL makes the screen capture work again. But it does also make the player work more slowly; there are delays of several seconds when jumping to different parts of the recording, and when starting a new one. I hope that the issue will be fixed for good in the next version. In any case, thank you for the emergency fix.

VLC 1.1.0 won't prolly fix this.

Hmm...It does appear that using OpenGL makes everything red turn blue in the screenshots...
Any idea why the problem originated in the first place? It wasn't there in ages, and as far as I know, the composition of .avi files or DVDs hasn't changed significantly.

Problem is display driver related. Prolly something to do with colorspaces. (so it should happen with all videos)

I just want to say I have this problem too. I am using an ATI video card with Windows XP Home SP3. Will this problem be fixed someday?

VLC 1.1 seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you for the quick work developers.
