Video Snapshots setup not working properly?

Windows 7 64bit | VLC media player v 1.0.5 Goldeneye
SETTINGS in "Video Settings" under Video Snapshots
1) Directory: C:\Users\Imageman\Desktop
2) Prefix: vlcsnap-1
3) Sequential numbering box checked
4) Format: jpg
PROBLEM
Snapshot doesn't save snaps to the location (Desktop) I have set in preferences, and though the sequential numbering box is checked, that's not working either, and the file is saved without the file type (jpg).
VLC MEdia Player it THE BEST, and I know that I must not have or have not done something correctly. Probably due to my advanced age
