How do we add new VLC Visualizations (for Windows, Milkdrop)

Ok, so how do we add new Visualizations? I'd like to get Milkdrop working in VLC so I don't have to use Winamp Anymore with my party projector.

How do we add to "Windows" VLC?

http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VLC_medi ... on-history
The change log says:
Visualization:
* Support of .milk visualization files using projectM libraries

I found the ProjectM project,
http://projectm.sf.net

The files seem to be all for Linux.

I opened up the presets_milkdrop-2.0.1-Source.tar and found a whole list of .milk files

Where do I put the .milk files so VLC shows new Visualizations?

Since so many are listed, hopefully we can set VLC to randomize them all as well so I'm not stuck with one at a time.

This page didnt help: http://wiki.videolan.org/SoC_2009/p2p_projectM

This page says to put them in the Modules directory but I don't have one
http://ivoire.dinauz.org/blog/index.php ... ons-in-VLC
(they must be talking about the Linux version)

I installed the latest vlc-1.1.0-rc-win32.exe
This gives me a modules folder under VLC\lua
I tried putting the .milk files there (no luck, no new options anywhere)
How??

Thanks for the update. Can I still try it out even if it's broken'ish? Which version includes the option to enable it even ? As far as I can tell I have the latest beta. I don't see any new visualization options though.

It might not be compiled in trunk/branch nightlies.

JazJon,

i was stumped as well and i just figured it out. i couldn't find an answer ANYWHERE! so i thought i'd post it so its out there when others, like me, go searching.

so by default projectM doesn't set the directory for your .milk files. all you have to do is set it in the preferences.

Tools -- Preferences -- _at_the_bottom_ --Show settings -- click (ALL) -- under audio expand Visualizations -- select ProjectM --

Then set the Path to your .milk files under projectM preset Path. all works well after that.

your welcome.. thats if you ever come back here... most likely you lost interest after 3 years of no REAL answer. hahha
