MPEG container with multiple streams.. How to select one?

Postby Cwelle » 19 May 2010 08:31

Hi there guys..

I have a question for u.. I am trying to transode an MPEG stream from my sat receiver (Dreambox DM-8000) to h.264 to be able to watch the upcoming Football WC in South Africa.. During the championchip i will not be at home so i figured out to stream the games to me :) That is the part i like about VLC.. Anyway as i have 2 Mb/s upload i figured out to use H.264 and AAC codecs for video and audio.. After few minutes i had everything up and running.. I did a small test with German PRO7 and had no problems.. Then i switched to Arena Sport and Sky Sport and thats when i expirienced the problem..

In MPEG stream fom Dreambox there are actually 4 streams (Sky Sports) and 7 streams (Arena Sport).. So my VLC shows the first picture and then freezes altho i am receiving stream from Dreambox.. The MPEG containter itself has in both cases:

Stream0 - Video stream MPEG2 ... bla bla bla
Stream1 - Audio stream MPEG ... bla bla bla..
Stream2 - Audio stream MPEG ...
Stream3 - Audio stream MPEG....
...
...
StreamXX - Audio stream MPEG....

There are also some program streams in the package..

In example from PRO7 (German TV sender) i have only one VIDEO and one AUDIO stream.. I guess that the other streams are just diferent AUDIO tracks (languages) for the same Video.. Somehow it is killing my VLC! Does anyone has an idea how to solve this?

Thnx..

I found the solution.

I have to use mumudvb on the linux machine. I have to specify PCR and SID for the channel in the configuration of the mumudvb.
