VLC not running on Windows 2000

Hi all

I am still using Windows 2000 professional.
On this OS it seems VLC media player does not work.
I am using vlc-1.1.0-pre1-win32.exe

Installation works fine, but when I try to start it, I just get an error message:
"The procedure entry point HeapSetInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

Weird, isn't it? Considering that Win 2000 supposedly IS a supported operating system.

The old version, (0.8.6d) always worked fine.

Any help appreciated.

Mark

To use this function on Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 (SP4), install the hotfix described in KB 816542.

Try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816542

:( :( :(

I've had no trouble running any of the 1.1.0-pre-X versions on Win2KSP4.

Solved!

Hi all!

Thanks!
Yep, that did it!
I did a Windows Update and installed Service Pack 4 and all hotfixes.
Now it works!
:-) :-)

Thanks all!
