cant open vlc file of a game download

This is probably a duplicated question but searching has not thrown up any relevant answer.

I have downloaded a couple of things which show up as vlc files. While music and video type files cannot be ( Well I have not found how to convert the files to dvd through tele viewing) viewed on television I can view them on my computer monitor. I have downloaded a couple of files for games which are in vlc format and I just do not know what to do with them. I have tried to see if making an ISO file was possible but I am just lost. I do not understand why someone should make a file that has such a difficulty in being used. As I said the playing of a vlc song or video through the computer only is understandable but how do you open a game made with this program. What do I need to do please.

This ageing imbecile needs a little help.

VLC only plays media ISO files, like DVD-Video or SVCD. VLC isn't your game warezing tool.

Thank you, I only want to know why people upload a 'game file' which when I download it shows up as a VLC media file. For what purpose are people doing this. Is it possible that by default my setting are registering the file as such?

I have saved about half a dozen of these downloads as data information for a time when I can find out just what to do with them.

The files are from torrent downloads if that gives you anymore information. I obvioulsy can play music and video files showing as vlc but dont know how to manipulate them to become dvd player friendly. Trying to get my burner program to recognise a VLC file as an ISO does not work. I have used this software with success in recognisable ISO formats. Freeware CDBURNERXP. I also have a freeware DAEMON tools piece of software but not used in anger yet.

Again what is the purpose of a torrent uploader creating a file system for a downloader which cannot be converted to a useable format?

Thanks for your trouble hoping I have given more information.

Hello,

I have been able to persevere in sorting this problem out. I have found that using Daemon Tools lite I can MOUNT the VLC file on the virtual default disc. This opens the vlc folder into its respective files which I can then transfer onto an empty disc and burn.

Using the CDBURNERXP program did not allow me to SEE the VLC file as anything useful but Daemon has obliged me.

Now to make a serious assault on all those other VLC files.

Using your service has been a little bit like lying on a Psychiatrists couch with them really saying very little but thank you anyway.

Lancer. I hope all my problems are as easily solved.

i'm guessing the file is a bin file. this extenion is associated with vlc by default but is actually more commonly used as a cd image container or a compressed file. in windows explorer set your windows to show extentions for known file types that way you know what it actually is rather than just its description. you should also change this files association to daemon tools as opposed to vlc. i'm guessing you will never come across a video .bin file anyways.

Hi, how can I UN-associate .bin files from VLC without associating it TO a different program? When I try to do this in Windows 7, I only have the option of associating .bin files to a different program. I want .bin files to be not associated to anything, thanks.
