Hi

first of all, I am new to VLC, new to streaming and sorry if my message is in the wrong place.
What I want to do is to see a movie in my TV from a folder in my pc. I tried to setup streaming in VLC but no luck. Can someone please tell me step by step how to to that? My TV is wired conected to a router and has 192.168.1.104 as IP. My PC can see the TV in the Network.

Tks
Jose

VLC doesn't support UPNP streaming. So it is very likely that VLC can't help you.

Hi

Best Regards

There have been some UPNP work done, but support won't come anytime soon.

My friend runs a newer version of Fedora, and his version of VLC supports UPNP streaming (if you go to the playlist and browse the library, select Local Network-> UPNP). I'm currently running the newest version for Windows (1.1.5) and I do not have this option.

Will it be coming anytime soon? Is this option already available in one of the unstable releases?

Thanks!
Brian

Linux versions have UPNP client support. They have had it for years.

XBMC has UPNP server functionality. I got it working on my laptop, and my friend can stream movies from it to his ps3 in a different room of the house. Takes a while to buffer though, and the files are already compatible for playback on ps3. I'm still waiting for VLC to have UPNP support so I can dump xbmc :)
