No audio when playing 7.1 FLAC

Sorry if this is a common problem, but I tried a search & couldn't narrow the search criteria.

When playing back 7.1 audio which I've encoded to FLAC VLC gives me no audio, but other devices playback the audio fine... is there something I need to configure?

Thanks in advance

I installed vlc-1.1.0-pre1-20100406-0002-win32.exe and I only get snippets of audio. (Snippet = play 1 half a second of audio, then cut out for 1 sec, then play another half second, and so on...

This is W7x64 if that matters...

Ok, this file is badly encoded.

It doesn't work with ffplay, mplayer, vlc.
The only way to play it is to deactivate the packetizer FLAC in VLC.
