Allow multi core processing?

I'm trying to play some 1080p .mkv videos and the playback is choppy. I traced the problem back to my processor which is a quadcore and it is only using one processor at 100% while the other ones are less than 5%. I have the same problem with Windows Media Player. Is there a way to get VLC to use all my processors? Thanks.

2.66 GHz quadcore
GTX 260
4 Gigs of RAM
Vista

Nope. VLC doesn't have multicore H.264 video decoder. You can try DXVA builds from this subforum, they should support your display adapter.

Thanks for the info. I was able to find a different player that has all that stuff built in, Media Player Classic Home Cinema.
